one of my favorite quotes is from Degas:
"A painting requires a little mystery, some vagueness, some fantasy. When you always make your meaning perfectly plain you end up boring people."
I have found that it is quite a bit more discipline to be free and loose, than to include all the details and lines. It feels something like when you don't dot an i , but it's a discipline I'm working towards.
